Getting Started

Once an evaluation is requested by a caregiver, it will be scheduled based on the availability of the provider. If the client is using insurance, we may need a referral from their doctor that includes a diagnosis code prior to scheduling the appointment. Please send all referrals to our fax number at 804-302-6481.

Frequently Asked Questions

Don't see your question? Give us a call! We will be happy to answer your questions, discuss your concerns, and provide guidance on the next steps.

How do I know if my child needs an evaluation or therapy?

Call Dynamic Speech Therapy at 804-220-1080 to speak with one of our therapists or complete the form on the contact page

What ages do you work with?

Dynamic Speech Therapy currently provides evaluations and therapy to children ages 2-10 years.

What is speech therapy?

Speech therapy is the treatment of communication disorders. Speech therapy is provided by a nationally licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) and can address the following skills: understanding of language, use of words/sentences, play skills, and production of speech sounds in words.

What if my child has already had an evaluation in the last year?

We will review the report prior to the initial appointment and determine if additional information is needed. Based on the current concerns of the caregiver and the results of the most recent testing, the therapist will discuss their recommendations and whether or not a comprehensive assessment is still needed at the initial appointment.

What is the process for receiving speech therapy?

A comprehensive evaluation is completed in order to assess your child's overall skills. After an evaluation is completed, we will share the results and discuss whether or not therapy is recommended. When determining therapy needs, we will consider the developmental norms based on the child's age, functional skills, as well as the family's concerns regarding their child's skills.

How often are therapy sessions?

The number of therapy sessions each week is based on the needs of the child and the concerns of the family. Children could be seen one to three times per week based on the complexity of their needs for 30 minutes per day.

Do you provide in-home therapy?

At this time, we do not provide in-home therapy; however, virtual options may be available on a case-by-case basis to address certain skills or provide support to caregivers. Evaluations and treatment are provided to the client in the office and/or daycare setting.

Do you take insurance?

Dynamic Speech Therapy is currently in-network for families with private insurance through Anthem/Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna and Anthem Healthkeepers Plus (Medicaid). It is important to understand that coverage through insurance is based on medical necessity. If your insurance is considered out-of-network, we can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company.

How do I pay for services?

You can put a card on file in our patient portal during the intake process, and that card would be charged at each appointment.

What is the cancellation policy?

All clients are allowed two cancellations with less than 24 hours notice each calendar year, and then they will be charged the full session fee.
